For us tourism means eco-tourism: a tourism which benefit the local people without any loss to their natural resources, culture, and identity. Given the boost in random tourism we are very much concerned about the degradation of natural resources and environment of the local people. We promote the touristic potential of the mountain valleys but at the same time try to sensitize the local people and the tourists to pay much attention to the local environment. We also try to promote the cultural and linguistic aspects of tourism which many ordinary tourists are not aware of at all. We publish books, pamphlets and other advocacy materials on eco and cultural tourism. One of our ongoing interventions, whether project based or not, is to encourage the local youth in setting up small businesses for themselves in the area for hospitality and management of tourism.
